Software subscription fees for cm3 seem to be high (in terms of percentage) compared to other software I have purchased. Why is this?
You're right, 20% is a fairly high percentage of the original price to pay for a software maintenance subscription. However we believe the price is more than fair when you consider the following things:
- When compared against other CMS tools of similar power, cm3 is really cheap.
- Our licensing policies provide a lot of value at very accessible purchase points - especially the server and organisation licences.
- Although cm3 is a mature product in its fourth major version with a very creditable install base, it is still rapidly evolving. Upgrades, improvements, and new features become available almost monthly.
- We currently allow upgrades to all versions of the product under the maintenance subscription. This means all major releases (e.g. version 3 to version 4) and all attached assets for which you have purchase a subscription (e.g. the Internet Module Pack) will be yours free of charge when they arrive.
