Version 3.3.2 of cm3 released
A key element of our approach to development is to listen to our customers and analyse each new project to identify potential product improvements. This release of cm3 has had a focus on the addition of features that aid the development of advanced websites and improve the publishing experience for content authors.
Please note that the feature list below is not a full list of the latest additions and enhancements to cm3, it is merely intended to give you an idea of the advantages of the new version:
New Features
- Spell checker for any text field
- Full content preview mode (templates confirgurable by cm3 administrator or site designer)
- Multiple article select function for collective changes (e.g. publishing, deleting)
- More major updates to visual editor, including improved image management, improved table management, improved colour selection, special characters, much more (too many to list)
- Detailed MonthView function, especially good for calendars
- Module: Server side caching option to speed up sites that generate complex navigational queries (optional addition per site)
- Module: Detailed import module for content articles in regular content types
- Module: Detailed export module for content articles in regular content types
- Module: Active Directory / LDAP authentication service, direct and highly secure integration with AD authentication repositories
- Module: Encrypted password storage option
- Database and template backup and restore function
- Pull-down menu option for content types to deliver automatic pull-down menus for automatically constructed forms
- "Publish now" function for authorised editors to send single or multiple articles live immediately (bypasses publish procedure)
- Module: Beta version of advanced index and search module available, completely integrated with user permissions, provides relevancy matching, and more. (Third party product included, requires Perl equipped server.)
- Module: Optional integration with Ektron eWebEditPro visual editor (e.g. to replace built-in cm3 editor)
- Example / tutorial: Examples available of scheduled article publishing - e.g. live date, review date, archive date
- Example / tutorial: Simple implementation of basic poll voting system
- *Example / tutorial: Collection of template elements for dHTML pull down menu creation
Enhanced Features
- File upload component speed issues addressed, it is now much faster
- Publishing workflow module overhauled:
- More linear process
- "Edit mode" replaces "No change"
- "Review" mode replaces "Publish / Unconfirmed" option
- "Publish now" option added
- Date functions more flexible and accessible for developers, new macros enabled in templates for different date views
- Updated manuals (mostly for developer support)
- CMS user role improvements, process was clarified
- Improved (safer) styles management in visual editor
- User record management form now allows multiple groups, and separated change of password for security
- Authentication system completely overhauled, much more secure
- Visible rating field size extended on content summary views
- HTML code cleaning functions in visual editor, removes Word tags, style and class tags, unwanted font tags, etc
- Code layout functions in visual editor - cm3 now creates more readable HTML code
- Publisher now pops up in a window, does not interrupt content editing procedure
- Module: Improvements to reporting interface in static page baking module

cm3 Sample Company demo site updated with new features and functions. Not yet fully finished, but an excellent example starting point for developers.
