Form HandlerThe form handler offers data validation, error handling, connection to template driven email events, integration with cm3's permissions and publishing workflow, and the ability to manipulate objects in the core content repository. It provides both simple forms management and a powerful interface to more advanced CMS customisation or web interface development. Forms are a vital part of any website or user-oriented application. cm3 handles forms using a centralised technology that requires no active application programming at all from the developer, but which can easily be extended through ASP for advanced programmers.
Form "events" are defined within the system and configured within cm3 using the web-based interface. Actions such as attaching automated email messages, recording the information in your central database, and sending incoming messages to your contacts system can literally be set up in minutes. Once set-up, a content manager with little or no technical experience can personalise response emails, alter who receives email notifications, and apply other form settings using only a web browser. The form handling and data validation components of cm3 are completely modular - they can even be used outside the scope of cm3-driven applications in regular web site development scenarios.
